If you had played the original Oxenfree, you’d have more insight into what is happening and pick-up nods to past events, but it is absolutely not required. Color me surprised when I discovered that OXENFREE II: Lost Signals is largely a standalone sequel crafting a wholly new story that doesn’t require the original to play. And as studios emphasize building franchises, sequels that are an immediate continuation of what came before it is almost entirely the industry’s standard approach. Sequels that co-exist within an established game world but can be enjoyed on their own. The concept of a standalone sequel feels like a relic of a bygone era. It will also be available for Xbox Game Pass. Redfall will arrive for the Xbox Series and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. It’s now up to you with up to three other vampire hunters to explore the island, unravel the mystery behind the vampires’ appearance, and take back the island. Soon, people are reported missing there are dead bodies and blood everywhere the sun has been eclipsed and vampires rule the town. What initially was intended to be a scientific breakthrough from the scientists at Aevum HQ turns out to be the beginning of a nightmare for the island of Redfall. The Performance Mode will be added at a later date. It should be noted that Redfall won’t include a 60 FPS Performance mode on Xbox when the game is released. Showing off the PC version’s RTX power, the trailer is set to a cover of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun”, and gets right into the creepiness that has befallen the town of Redfall. Culminating the recent character reveals is the new launch trailer for Redfall, which will finally arrive after a several month delay. May 2nd is coming in hot for those of you excited for the release of Bethesda and Arkane’s Redfall.
